Please note: HollowNet is an independent project. Service availability, configurations, access permissions, costs, and support arrangements depend on the specific setup agreed for each project. Any details discussed before setup should be confirmed before the service begins.
About HollowNet
HollowNet is an independent web hosting and infrastructure project focused on helping personal websites, development projects, and small online ventures get started on the web.
The name HollowNet refers to the project and does not, by itself, indicate a registered company or separate legal entity. The identity of the person or entity providing a particular service should be made clear where required by applicable law.
Scope and acceptance
These terms describe the general conditions that may apply when you arrange hosting, domain-related assistance, DNS configuration, or other services offered through HollowNet.
By proceeding with a service after receiving and accepting the applicable terms, you agree to the conditions that apply to that arrangement. Specific details, including the selected configuration, access level, costs, and any agreed limitations, should be confirmed before work begins.
Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer protection or other mandatory law.
Hosting services
HollowNet may provide or arrange web hosting for websites, applications, personal projects, and other agreed uses. Available resources and features depend on the configuration agreed for the individual project.
Hosting descriptions and example configurations published on the website are indicative starting points. They are not a guarantee that every listed feature, resource, or configuration will be available in every arrangement.
Before a hosting setup is created, the intended use, required resources, technical limitations, access permissions, and any applicable costs should be discussed and confirmed.
Domains and DNS
Domain registration, renewal, transfer, and ownership are subject to the terms and procedures of the relevant domain registrar or registry.
Depending on the arrangement, a domain may be registered directly by you or managed through an account controlled by the person arranging the service. The registrar, account holder, renewal responsibility, and any domain-related costs should be clarified before registration.
DNS may be managed through HollowNet or an external provider, such as Cloudflare. DNS changes can take time to propagate and may affect the availability of websites, email, or other services. You are responsible for confirming that requested DNS changes are correct, unless another arrangement has been agreed.
Resources and access
Hosting configurations may include defined limits for storage, bandwidth, websites, databases, DNS zones, scheduled tasks, or other resources. The applicable limits depend on the configuration agreed for your project.
Access to Hestia Control Panel, SSH, databases, files, and other administrative tools depends on the setup and permissions granted. Not every service includes full administrative or shell access.
You must keep your login credentials secure, avoid sharing access unnecessarily, and promptly report suspected unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity carried out using credentials assigned to you, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Backups and customer data
Backup options may be discussed as part of an individual hosting arrangement. The availability of a backup option does not, by itself, guarantee a particular backup schedule, retention period, storage location, or successful restoration.
The applicable backup and recovery arrangements should be confirmed before you rely on them. You should maintain independent copies of important website files, databases, and other data whenever possible.
You remain responsible for ensuring that content you upload or process is lawful and that you have the necessary rights and permissions to use it. Where personal data is involved, you must also comply with the data protection obligations that apply to your role and activities.
Acceptable use
You must not use HollowNet services to:
- Break applicable laws or infringe another person's rights.
- Distribute malware, phishing pages, or other malicious content.
- Attempt unauthorised access to systems, accounts, or networks.
- Interfere with the security, stability, or availability of infrastructure.
- Send unlawful or abusive communications or operate prohibited services.
- Use resources in a way that materially affects other users or the underlying systems.
If misuse or a security risk is identified, reasonable steps may be taken to investigate and address the issue. Where necessary, access may be restricted or a service suspended, subject to applicable law and any relevant agreement.
Security and maintenance
Infrastructure and software may require maintenance, updates, troubleshooting, or security changes. These activities may occasionally interrupt access to a website or service.
You are responsible for keeping your website software, plugins, themes, applications, and account credentials appropriately maintained, unless maintenance responsibilities have been expressly included in your arrangement.
HollowNet aims to handle infrastructure responsibly, but no internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be completely secure or free from interruption.
Costs, contributions, and payments
Any applicable charges, contributions, domain costs, renewal costs, or other expenses should be communicated and agreed before the relevant service or purchase is arranged.
The payment arrangement may differ between projects. Where recurring payments or contributions apply, the amount, frequency, purpose, and any conditions should be made clear to the parties involved.
The description of a payment as a contribution, reimbursement, or service fee does not by itself determine its legal or tax treatment. Applicable invoicing, tax, consumer, and other legal requirements continue to apply.
Domain registration and renewal costs may be subject to the terms and pricing of the relevant registrar. Any third-party costs should be clarified before they are incurred.
Cancellation, suspension, and termination
The process for ending a hosting arrangement should be agreed between the parties. Where possible, provide reasonable notice so that files, databases, domains, and other relevant services can be transferred or handled appropriately.
A service may need to be suspended or restricted where required to address a serious security risk, unlawful activity, misuse, non-payment of an agreed charge, or a technical issue affecting the underlying infrastructure. Any action will be subject to applicable law and the terms of the relevant arrangement.
Before a service ends, you should arrange any data exports, backups, domain transfers, and alternative hosting that you need. Data availability after termination depends on the applicable arrangement and any mandatory legal obligations.
Availability and liability
HollowNet is an independent project and does not promise uninterrupted availability, a specific uptime percentage, or suitability for every purpose unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise.
Internet connectivity, third-party providers, software failures, maintenance, hardware problems, security incidents, and other factors may affect availability.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, no guarantee is made that a service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including mandatory consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as HollowNet develops its services or as technical, operational, or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
Where a change materially affects an existing arrangement, the relevant parties should be informed as required by applicable law or the terms of that arrangement.
Applicable law
These terms are subject to the laws that apply to the relevant service and the parties involved. Mandatory consumer protection rules and other rights that apply by law remain unaffected.
If you have a concern about a service, please contact HollowNet first so that the issue can be discussed and, where possible, resolved.
